From college students to long-time arts patrons, everyone who enters art & light enjoys the distinct blend of comfortable southern hospitality with the crackling energy of artworks that sit on the cutting edge of today's scene. art & light held its inaugural show in July 2007 and is now part of the First Friday organization, whose mission is to showcase the work of emerging and established artists in the Greenville Community.

Owner/manager Teresa Roche keeps two goals in mind for art & light.
The first goal is to bring together the best art and hand-crafted objects from this community's most talented up-and-coming artists at reasonable prices. With a mix of art, furniture, lighting, accessories, and eccentricities, and with a presentation that helps you select items that work together, Teresa makes it easy for every patron to become a trend-setter. A few simple choices can convert a room or a home, and can accomplish this in a modern, casual, and distinctly personal way. Pieces are offered at all price levels, and Teresa as well as other artists can help you select items that fit with your personal style, with one another, and with your budget.
The second goal is to be a dynamic gathering place for showcasing the work of the area's new, varied art talent. Media & style vary by artist, so that the gallery embodies the perfect partnering of unlike works. These works include mixed wood grains, painted furniture, iron sculpture, mixed furniture periods, vintage lamps, retro & antique accessories, and an exciting collection of art from newer local talents as well as student artists and others. Not only are many emerging artists showcased regularly, but the studio presents an ever-changing cast of additional artists, so that each time you visit, the merchandise is a surprise! Guest artists, thematic presentations, and new works monthly lend a "shake-it-up" fresh atmosphere to the gallery, where folks gather for art as well as for casual conversation.
As a final note, Teresa's creative partner, Paige Caraway is responsible for the "light" in the gallery. She brings the lighting to life by re-wiring and refurbishing once discarded light fixtures and lamps. The unique pairing of Paige's artful finds with paintings in the gallery allow the two long time friends to group pieces for interior spaces which create excitement and harmony.
