So you have a very specific space and you're sick of staring at a blank wall but are having a hard time finding the right piece of art...

A custom commission might seem daunting, but we are here to spell out the process so that you can decide if it is the right path for you in your art collecting journey.

First off - you have to know what you like and don't like.

Before you embark on a commission for a custom work of art, it's a good idea to know what you like and what you don't. We encourage you to explore our artists and find a couple that you really connect with. Take note what you really like about their style. Are there specific pieces you like more than others? Once you have an idea of what you like, we can get started!

Need help getting started? HERE is a link to explore our artists on the website. Be sure to click on the "sold" tab to see their historical works too. Both available and sold works can become inspiration.  We are also more than happy to give you some suggestions as to what artists would look great if you need a little guidance.

Let's Talk Details...

Once we have a handle on what artist you are interested in commissioning, we will chat through the details:

· What size is best for the space you would like it to live?

· What historical piece(s) would you like the artist to reference while creating your piece?

· Are there any colors you want to stay away from or make sure to include?

Once we get a handle on what you'd like to see, we will connect with the artist to present the project and gather pricing, timeframe and any questions the artist might have for you before getting started.

Initiating the actual commission...

Once we agree upon the timeframe, pricing and scope of the commission, we will draw up some paperwork outlining those details including images of inspiration works and anything else pertinent to the project. Once signed, a deposit of 50% will be taken to get the artist started. This deposit is non-refundable, so we do a lot of communicating before getting started to make sure we are all on the same page.

What happens while the artist is creating?

Now for the fun part! Here is where you sit back and relax while you let the artist do what they do best. As we stated above, we do A LOT of communicating before embarking on a commission so that the artist has very clear instruction. Remember, you are commissioning an artist you already love, so whatever they come up with is going to be special and just right for your space.

Each artist is different, but in most cases, you will have at least one chance to make comments on the progress and state any changes you want to see. If you have questions about a specific artist's process, let us know and we can fill you in.

How do we finalize this thing?

When the artist has completed the work, they will send a few photos and or videos so that you can approve the final piece. Once approved, the final payment will be due, then the artist will either deliver the piece to us here at the gallery or we will arrange to have it shipped directly to you!
